President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited Rwanda for bilateral talks with President Paul Kagame after attending the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
It comes as the President revealed that Nigeria will spend $11.6 billion on debt servicing in 2026—nearly half its projected revenue—with the President blaming high interest rates for limiting investment in key sectors.
Meanwhile, a resurfaced 2024 interview of former President Olusegun Obasanjo criticising Nigeria’s subsidy removal and rising debt has gone viral again, with many Nigerians saying his warning that the country was “deep in debt and spending money like a drunken sailor” now seems prophetic.
In another development, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said Akwa Ibom State would deliver the highest votes in the South-South for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, citing Governor Umo Eno’s peaceful leadership and collaboration with the APC.
Dapo Abiodun has been endorsed by APC stakeholders to contest the Ogun State East Senate seat in 2027, while current Senator Gbenga Daniel dismissed the endorsement as a “desperate sham.”
