If the government had ulterior motives for borrowing this money, why would it do so now? Why would it announce the borrowing at this particular time? What is the likelihood that the funds being requested will be released before the January 16 election? These questions suggest that there may be an underlying reason for the government’s decision to borrow at this time. Many of the challenges we face today did not begin with this administration, but the fact remains that international indicators support the reforms that have been implemented.
