Obi + Kwankwaso Defection Sparks Reactions + Justice Crack Arrest Outrage + Air Peace Drama

Reactions continue to pour in following the political realignment involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, with conversations dominating the weekend as both figures moved into a new political bloc. The phrase “goodbye ADC” trended heavily, with mixed reactions across the political spectrum. However, pushback came swiftly from the ruling party, APC voices, including spokesperson Felix Morka, criticising the move. A resurfaced clip of Obi speaking against party defections also began circulating, fuelling the debate.

In a separate development, outrage is building over the case of activist Justice Mark Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack, who was reportedly picked up by the Nigerian Army days after posting a viral video highlighting alleged poor welfare conditions among soldiers. The Army, in a statement, accused him of attempting to incite discontent and breach military social media policy, adding that he has since been handed over to civilian authorities. However, his supporters allege he was tortured in custody, with calls growing for accountability and a planned protest in Abuja.

Nollywood star Funke Akindele sparked reactions after calling out Air Peace over a nearly 10 hour delay at Gatwick Airport, alleging poor communication and lack of support for stranded passengers. The airline later confirmed the delay was caused by a bird strike, stating that safety protocols required the aircraft to be grounded for checks.

On the diplomatic front, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for a three nation visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda, where he is expected to attend the Africa France Summit alongside Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto.

And in light of that trip, political commentator Japheth Omojuwa has publicly criticised the French Embassy in Nigeria over what he describes as an unreasonable delay in returning his passport. Taking to social media, Omojuwa revealed that his passport has been held for eight weeks following a visa application.
