Atiku Says Tinubu Must Go + Peter Obi Will Holiday In Nigeria + GRV On Yoruba Language| OjyOkpe


ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar delivered a counter-address to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Independence Day speech, arguing that three years of the President's "treatment" has left Nigerians struggling to afford food, medicine and transport, and ending with "Tinubu must go."

Concurrently, President Tinubu's directive for reduced transport fares from October 1 under the CNG Transit Programme has yet to deliver widespread relief, though Oyo, Enugu and Borno recorded reductions.

The Presidential CNG Initiative's Vice Chairman, Toyin Subair insists fares are going down.

Meanwhile, NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi said Nigeria is not cursed but has cursed itself through its choices, and pledged not to spend a single holiday abroad if elected.

In Akwa Ibom State, police arrested eight members of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement over an Independence Day march in Uyo, with Obi's media aide alleging tear gas was fired, which the Police Command denies.

In Delta State, young people were filmed burning polo shirts bearing President Tinubu's image at a "Soft Nigeria" run in Warri.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ordered the immediate repair of the collapsed Agbarho section of the East-West Road.

In Lagos State, major governorship candidates clashed at a special Independence Day town hall with hundreds of young Lagosians. APC candidate, Obafemi Hamzat addressed young people roaming the streets, while NDC candidate, Funso Doherty described Lagos as untenable for many young people.

ADC candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour set social media alight after being asked in Yoruba what he would do to promote the language if elected, as scrutiny of his Yoruba proficiency continues.

Today, an estimated twenty prospective NYSC corps members, mostly from the University of Ibadan and LAUTECH, were abducted by gunmen on the Anambra-Imo border while travelling to orientation camps in Akwa Ibom and Abia States.

Finally, Nollywood film "Black Market" set a Guinness World Record for the largest single-venue film screening attendance with 51,000 people at Tafawa Balewa Square.
