A U.S. lawmaker, Kimberly Daniels, has accused Nigeria’s Defence Minister Bello Matawalle of attempting to bribe a U.S. official to suppress a report linking him to alleged terrorist connections.

While Daniels has previously called for his removal, a U.S.-based Nigerian group has pushed back, criticising her comments as lacking proper context.

In another development from Abuja, President Bola Tinubu sparked online debate after blaming Nigeria’s ongoing electricity problems on the 2013 power sector privatisation during a State House meeting with an Enugu delegation led by Governor Peter Mbah.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has signalled his intention to resign to contest in the Oyo State governorship election.

In Kwara State, APC aspirant Abdulmajeed Abdulfatai has accused party officials of unfairly excluding him from the Ilorin Central House of Assembly race, breaking down in tears in a viral video.

In Delta State, a viral video has caused public outrage which shows a woman being violently attacked by a masquerade at an Urhobo cultural festival in Edjeba, Warri South. Police and authorities have yet to comment with calls growing for the masquerade’s arrest.
