Zimbabwe has hiked fuel prices sharply, with diesel now at $2.05 per litre and unleaded petrol at $2.19 for the first time—up from around $1.74 earlier this week.
The government blames the conflict in the Middle East for the increase.
Citizens expressed shock, warning the rise will trigger a cascade of higher costs for transport, food and goods, creating a "hazard" for daily life.
In the past, authorities have tried price controls to cushion such shocks, but those measures have sometimes backfired, hurting the economy.
Zimbabweans already struggling with affordability now face even deeper uncertainty.
