Nigeria is bigger than any individual. Leaders come and go. If you are a Speaker or Senate President today, the most you can fight for is eight years, but the kind of precedent you put in place can continue to affect the country for a very long time. Nigerians are very good at looking back and saying, this happened before, so why can’t it happen again. It is not about individuals; it is about the direction of our democracy. We are sliding down the slope of democracy instead of moving forward.
