Look at Nigeria particularly. The Sahel crisis has deeply affected us, and the United Nations hasn’t really intervened through humanitarian intervention, peacekeeping or conflict resolution. When you have one of the continent’s most persistent security crises happening, you would have hoped the nation’s number one diplomat would be the one to lead the delegation. Will the international community take us seriously if the number one isn’t around?
