Supreme Court’s ADC Shake Up+Okpebholo Blames Insecurity On Opposition+NGO Alleges 150 Kwara Deaths

Two major Supreme Court decisions are already reshaping Nigeria’s opposition politics, particularly the African Democratic Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party. In the ADC, celebrations erupted online after the court reinstated David Mark as National Chairman, while in the PDP, the court ruling invalidating the party’s Ibadan national convention has triggered emergency meetings.

In Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo is trending after boldly claiming that he can deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027, while also insisting that Tinubu’s support base in the state is organic.

Okpebholo also stated insecurity narratives are politically exaggerated, and suggested Peter Obi’s 2023 win in Edo was only possible due to weak governance under former Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In Kwara State, controversy is growing after Amnesty International alleged that at least 150 Fulanis, many of them children, died while being held at a NYSC camp in Yikpata following military custody. The report claims over 1,500 displaced persons were relocated there after fleeing attacks, with survivors describing overcrowding and disease.

In another viral development, a large convoy allegedly linked to Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, has sparked debate online after footage showed a heavily guarded motorcade moving through traffic, raising fresh questions about official convoys and public perception during economic hardship.

In Rivers State, the Eleme Local Government Chairman has also drawn attention after appearing at a political event surrounded by a large “human convoy” of aides and supporters, a display that has triggered conversations around political power symbolism and security culture at the grassroots level.
