Soludo Backs Tinubu, Tells Igbos Not To Waste Votes+Atiku, Peter Obi Condemns ADC Ruling| Ojy Okpe
Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo is facing fierce backlash after endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term at an APC rally in Ebonyi State, urging Nigerians to move from an "alliance of protest" to an "alliance for progress."
Meanwhile, Nigeria's opposition has been thrown into uncertainty after a Federal High Court ordered INEC to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Alliance, Action Peoples Party and Zenith Labour Party. Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ademola Adeleke have condemned the ruling, insisting an existing Court of Appeal order should have prevented the judgment.
In Katsina, troops rescued Hajiya Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, weeks after the couple were abducted by bandits. The rescue comes amid fresh concerns over Nigeria's kidnapping crisis as a Kwara monarch reportedly died in captivity despite ransom payments, another traditional ruler was abducted in Ondo State, and a survivor described alleged abuse inside a terrorist camp.
Security concerns are also mounting in Sokoto, where bandits have reportedly imposed levies on 26 farming communities, while the Federal Government has begun mass trials for more than 500 suspected terrorists in Abuja. The developments come as Borno State reintegrates another 720 repentant terrorists, bringing the total number rehabilitated under the programme to 9,680.
In Kogi State, Nigerian troops killed the suspected terrorist leader Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo, while in Ogun State, personnel from the Army, DSS and immigration arrested 46 suspected illegal immigrants.
It comes as a video has emerged of a young woman recounting the violence she and other women faced while in the terrorist’s den.
