“How to invest your money in South Africa”. Did you know that there is a rapid increase in the google search terms for “Investment”, “How to invest” and “Money” in the past recent years for South Africans on Google trends? And if you are part of investing groups on Facebook, such as the “SA Easy Equities Investors” or “The Fat Wallet Community”, you probably would have noticed that there is an ever-increasing interest for South Africans to better manage and invest their money.
This is great news, as it is an indication that more and more S’africans are starting to take their personal finances into their own hands and not completing relying on others to determine their financial futures as had been the trend in the past.
And it is already a massive positive step in the right direction to be willing to invest your own money, but seeing that very few of us have a proper financial education, and no, the maths and accounting that you learned at school does not help much when you start adulting, it is important to first have a proper, well thought out investment strategy in place before you invest a single rand.
If you are not a fan of any of the multi-asset balanced funds available on the market, or you don’t want to pay a fund manager a bunch of expensive fees to make the asset allocation calls on your behalf, then this video is for you, as I’ll go over exactly how to custom build your own investment portfolio using ETFs that are both well-structured and well-diversified, and I will also mention all the important things you need to consider when setting up your own strategy so that you can customize your own plan for yourself.
