Chad shuts border with Sudan after cross-border incursion kills its troops

Chad has closed its eastern border with Sudan following violence linked to its neighbor's civil war.
Fighting between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the border town of Tina killed five Chadian soldiers over the weekend.
The government says the move is necessary to protect its citizens and prevent the conflict from spreading.
Chad says the border will remain closed until further notice.

Kholood Khair is the founding director of Confluence Advisory, a think-tank focusing on Sudan.
She says other neighbouring countries might also consider closures as fighting spills beyond the Sudanese border.
