Sudan: Hemedti Accuses Egypt of Airstrikes On RSF, Backing Army With Drones | Firstpost Africa
Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has accused Egypt of being involved in airstrikes on his troops. He also accused Cairo of training and providing drones to the country's army. The RSF leader went on to say that any support to the army cannot happen without a nod by the US. Egypt has responded by denying all allegations by the RSF. Egypt's Foreign Ministry in a statement said that Cairo is in fact involved in brokering peace efforts in Sudan, and its only priority is stability in the region. It also called on the international community to examine the evidence to verify the validity of the claims made by the RSF leader. The RSF chief also accused Iran, Eritrea, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine of supporting the Sudanese army. On the other hand, the army has blamed countries like the UAE for supporting the RSF. Though these nations have denied being involved in the Sudan conflict multiple reports have found evidence that their weapons are present in the country.
