Oshiomhole Slams Makinde Probe + Umahi Speaks On Deceased Nurse + Wike Hails Wife’s Prayers |OjyOkpe


Senator Adams Oshiomhole is firing back at Governor Seyi Makinde, calling his demand for a UN probe into the Oriire school kidnapping “un-statesmanly”, accusing him of carrying partisan politics too far.

Senator Abdul Ningi urged the government to swiftly prosecute the eight Oyo kidnapping suspects, compensate the families of the three security personnel killed during the rescue, and sustain the inter-agency security collaboration that made the operation successful.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga dismissed Governor Seyi Makinde’s call for a UN probe as "bizarre politics," accusing him of politicising the issue to advance his presidential ambitions.

In another development, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike said he relies on his wife Suzette’s prayers to maintain President Tinubu’s continued support.

He also warned the opposition that winning the presidency in 2027 is “not chochocho,” signalling confidence in the ruling camp.

Protesters at the National Assembly called for the suspension of Professor Abayomi Fasina’s ambassadorial screening, citing two pending sexual harassment cases and urging the Senate to await the courts’ decisions before confirming his nomination.

Works Minister David Umahi denied allegations of foul play in the death of nurse Mary Habila at his Ebonyi residence, insisting there was no cover-up and vowing legal action against those spreading what he described as false and defamatory claims.

Meanwhile, Habila’s father filed an affidavit rejecting an autopsy, asking that investigations end and her body be released for burial despite Works Minister David Umahi’s reported request for a post-mortem examination.

In good news, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo pledged ₦1 million and access to soft loans for each returnee who fled xenophobic attacks in South Africa, encouraging them to rebuild their lives at home.

In another development, Presidential adviser Daniel Bwala sparked backlash after claiming some Nigerians earning ₦60,000 at home are better off than migrants in the UK working low-paying jobs and struggling with the high cost of living.

A 56-year-old man, John Ehidreme, was arrested in Lagos for allegedly dumping refuse into a drainage channel in Ikorodu, with Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab warning that illegal waste disposal contributes to flooding.

Meanwhile, Wahab threatened legal action against an X user who shared a Bangladesh flood video as if it was from Nigeria, stressing that freedom of expression comes with responsibility.
