Now to the diaspora, where tensions are rising as xenophobic campaigns against Nigerians gain momentum in South Africa and Ghana.

In South Africa, protests intensified following controversy around an alleged Igbo kingship in the Eastern Cape, prompting warnings from Nigeria’s Diaspora Commission for citizens to avoid confrontations and shut businesses temporarily, while in Ghana, a protest in Accra has called for the expulsion of Nigerians, blaming them for crime.

A concerned mother has raised conversations around a nursery school textbook she described as violent. The clip, crossing 2 million views, has also drawn support from Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who called for greater sensitivity in children’s educational materials.

Reactions continue to trail a security scare at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which led to the evacuation of President Donald Trump and top officials, with the President later addressing the incident in a press briefing that has since gone viral.

In Abuja, tragedy struck as a 24-year-old NYSC member, Abdulsamad Jamiu, was killed in a shooting at Shagari Estate in Dei-Dei while watching over his younger siblings, just weeks before completing his service year, with the Nigerian Army confirming the incident.

In Lagos, the revival of the monthly sanitation exercise has sparked reactions after videos showed arrests of violators, with police confirming over 50 arrests linked to breaches and related disturbances during the restriction period.

And finally, in Ebonyi State, a viral video of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s convoy at a funeral has triggered debate online over public spending and optics, as the clip continues to circulate widely.
