After more than four decades in power and at the age of 93, Cameroon’s President Paul Biya is one step closer to having a deputy for the first time since he assumed office. Late Saturday, Cameroon’s parliament overwhelmingly handed the veteran president the power to appoint his own number two—a figure who would automatically take over if Biya can no longer lead.
