At least 52 dead in Johannesburg building fire

At least 52 people have been killed and dozens more injured in a major fire at a multi-storey building in South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg.

Authorities said the blaze is largely extinguished and a search and recovery operation is underway.

Up to 40 others have been reported injured, with many being treated by crews on the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
