Shofar Blowing
Up to and on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, Jews are commanded to hear the blowing of the Shofar (ram's horn). It is a powerful sound, comparable to a trumpet coronating a king, but also a raw and jarring sound, to wake up its listeners from complacency and lead them to self-reflection.
