Tau was built in 1995 and overlooks a vast natural waterhole, which attracts an astonishing variety of animals, as does the diverse vegetation that thrives in the fertile topsoil. There are frequent sightings of elephant, white and black rhino, lion, cheetah, spotted & brown hyena, buffalo, leopard, zebra, endangered wild dog, giraffe, ostrich and warthog. Various antelope species also come to drink - Impala, springbok, kudu, waterbuck, wildebeest, eland, blesbok, nyala and the even elusive sable.
